After the seizure happened, the medical professionals were curious about possible colon issues with David. Apparently he's been bleeding significantly when using the toilet and obviously that is cause for concern.
They took a look inside him with a glass tube and saw a fair amount of hemorrhoids, however they wanted to follow up with both a colonoscopy and endoscopy to assess any potential for cancer. So last Friday I took the day off and went with him to his operation.
It was scary thinking about it. Being a black male the odds of colon cancer are significantly increased. I'm the kind of person that I'd rather live in ignorant bliss than have answers. But with David I wanted to know. For the past 20 years, likely longer, he's spent a significant amount of time on the toilet and admittedly I've seen blood in the toilet before. Never enough to raise an alarm. I always just assumed it was a big shit that ripped his ass open. I wasn't aware that it poured out every time he shat.
So he had his operation, they took pictures of his neatherrealm. The doctor came in and said there was a rather large mass that she was concerned about, but clarified that she didn't believe it was cancer but wasn't quite sure what it was.
We had a follow up appointment today and as it turns out it was not cancer but bifold mucousa. Your guess is as good as mine, but it's apparently caused by pushing too hard.
So he's still on his steady diet of red meat, iron pills, and a strict bathroom schedule.
