Ever since the Kim Petras concert in 2019 I've been looking forward to doing more concerts like this. Small venue concerts with artists we love. I finally got to see one of my bands perform: Manchester Orchestra.
After Kim Petras we drove down to Tampa with David's Dad in 2021 and watched Thundercat perform. It was amazing. I wore the wrong shoes that day and went with undersized Doc Martin's that almost had me in tears. I think I spent most of that concert with my shoes off because the pain was unbearable.
Since that concert I've been trying to put an emphasis on seeing one of my bands perform. However there are only two bands I've really been listening too lately and that's Mansionair and Manchester Orchestra. Mansionair is an Aussie band so it's not likely I'm going to see them unless they go on another world tour. I had just missed their last one, but regardless they didn't come to Florida. However, out of pure happenstance one day a few months ago I noticed that Manchester Orchestra was coming to Orlando to the House of Blues.
Serendipitous.
I booked the tickets for David and I right away. I knew this would make him happy as he's been harking on me to find a band I'd like for us to watch live, and he knows how much A Black Mile to the Surface and Valley of Visions has been on replay throughout the year. '
We decided to ask if Olivia wanted to come with us. I almost hesitated asking her because I didn't think she'd be able to break away from the babies long enough for a concert but she agreed and managed to sort it out.
We got to Disney Springs a little early with the hopes of hitting up Gideon's Bakehouse. The line was too long for Gideon's unfortunately and we wouldn't have gotten our cookies in time, so we just opted to eat dinner and head to the concert area.
It's always so much fun getting to hang out with Olivia. I know I'm going to sound like Uncle Scar here, but I miss the times before the babies because the three of us would always hang out and have such a blast.
The concert was amazing. Since Chester Bennington's death Andy Hull has become my new favorite singer. I love his range and just how soothing his voice is, even when he's yelling. There is so much raw emotion in his voice, and let me tell you, he did not disappoint live.
We left as they were singing the last song. I was really hoping for The Silence but it wasn't unfortunately.
I had so much fun and it was amazing being able to share my music with David in a live setting. I'm loving that we've been doing concerts lately, well about one a year if we're not counting the COVID era. I want to keep it going. I don't have any interest in seeing large venue shows. You're just paying ludicrous amounts of money to see a pixel in your vision singing. David wants to go to one though, so that'll probably be our next one.
